Thus a simple formula can be used to calculate an expression's numerical equivalent – assigning each letter its individual value and then adding them together. For example, if we take the phrase "Light and Life" in the English language, it would have the numerical equivalent of 67. Comparing this with other words with a numeric value of 67 reveals many correlating elements such as "Logos" or "Creator" in Hebrew. Though this doesn't necessarily mean Light and Life are related concepts, it might point researchers towards connecting them in some way. Gematria is thus as much art as it is science as weaving connections between seemingly unrelated terms can be inspired through mystical associations rather than empiricism.
